Overview

Spybot S&D is the name of our popular Anti-Spyware software, which is free for private use. Contrary to this, companies and institutions need to buy licenses for the commercial versions of our software. There are three editions of Spybot S&D for non-private use: Spybot S&D Small Business Edition, Spybot S&D Corporate Edition and Spybot S&D Service Edition.

Spybot S&D Corporate Edition

The Spybot S&D Corporate Edition consists of two programs:

The Spybot S&D Update and Configuration Server
The Spybot S&D Corporate Edition client

Spybot S&D Update and Configuration Server is a web server offering Spybot-S&D updates for a local network, thus avoiding that every client needs to download the updates from the Internet. It either requests them from our servers in a user-defined interval or synchronizes on user (the admin in this case) request only, in case the admin wants to test the updates before releasing them to his network. This Corporate Edition is meant to be used on systems that belong to the Licensee's network.

It can either use the web server integrated into the tool, or an external web server or a file share the tool has write access to.

In addition to this update distribution facility, Spybot S&D Update and Configuration Server can be used to manage and control a centralized standard configuration for all installed Spybot S&D instances. This way you will be able to:

schedule scans with Spybot S&D on the client machines in a configurable interval
monitor the scan results of all clients via email sent by the clients to the admin
manage the configuration of the Spybot S&D installations in your company's network
set a password to prevent your users from changing Spybot S&D's configuration

The Spybot S&D Corporate Edition client is the fitting Spybot S&D version for the Spybot S&D Update and Configuration Server.

Spybot S&D Small Business Edition

The Spybot S&D Small Business Edition has all the features of the Spybot S&D Corporate Edition, but comes without the central management server. If you want to use Spybot S&D in a small company with only a few PCs, this edition is probably the right version for your needs. The Small Business Edition is meant to be used on computers owned (or leased) by the licensee.
